Ruben Mira, director of Zenith for Latin America and the Caribbean gave an exclusive interview to Sports & Lifestyle and shows us the two most important novelties of 2021.
The first is the new Zenith Chrono Master Sports, the 11th in the Chrono Masters collection. It’s more sporty with a ceramic bezel and pointers always with the classic colors of Zenith. It comes with rubber, velcro and steel straps. It’s an incredible push for the brand. Zenith Chrono Master Sports comes with 5 pieces: two with steel straps, two with velcro straps that make the rubber look like fabric, and one with gold strap with white sleeve. “If I did sports I would wear a more sporty one, one with rubber strap that is a little more modern and masculine. We have a movement that measures hundredths of a second.
“Mira explains. This belt swap option was introduced last year in a lady’s piece called the Midnight. It’s important for Zenith to be able to give options to its customers to be able to have several options. We like to use the watch as much as possible and at different times of the day or week. We are introducing more and more ladies’ watches. But 80% are men’s watches. Although we know that today there will be ladies who like to wear men’s watches.
DEFY Extreme
If I had to choose, “says Mira, “I would use the DEFY Extreme grade 5 Titanium which is darker, is a noble material and very light and comfortable. It has an integrated bracelet and this is the system I told you about. You don’t feel like you have a watch and wear it every day. It’s chronograph with hundredths of a second. It means the needle spins every second. With a 45 mm case that accentuates geometric lines with more pronounced edges. Its silhouette gives a sensation of greater robustness. It has a 12-sided ring under the bezel that extends to the bottom of the case, also 12-sided”.
Despite being a more adventurous version, it retains some iconic features from Defy’s early 1960s retrofuturistic models: the angular case and the faceted bezel.
The Defy Extreme revolves around versatility and adaptation to your environment. It is powered by a DEFY 21 calibre movement, the first automatic; an automatic chronograph with the indication of the hundredths of a second exceptionally precise and robust, with two escapes ranging at a frequency of 36,000 alt/h for the time part and 360,000 alt/h for the chronograph.
