Longines’ passion for equestrian sports dates back to the brand’s beginnings in the 19th century. From the creation of its first watch adorned with equestrian motifs to the launch of the 20H calibre, the brand has maintained a strong connection with the sport. Today, Longines’ involvement includes show jumping, flat racing, eventing, dressage, driving and endurance competitions.
Based in the Swiss town of Saint-Imier since 1832, the watchmaking brand has more than 180 years of tradition typified by the elegance of its products. Its high quality and expertise gave Longines the opportunity to establish a network of close links with the world of sport that enabled it to offer its skilled services to various prestigious disciplines throughout the 20th century.
In 1878, it produced a chronograph engraved with a jockey and his mount. Just three years later, this model was already being seen on racetracks and extremely popular among jockeys and horse-lovers, as it enabled its user to time performances to the seconds.
It was in 1912 that the Swiss brand first became associated with an international show jumping competition in Lisbon, marking the beginning of its association with equestrianism. Over the years, Longines has continued to innovate in the precision of sports timekeeping and has distinguished itself as a partner of the most prestigious events, working closely with the leading professionals in this discipline. The decision to support equestrian sports is because they represent the brand’s key values, such as strength, endurance, technique, precision and elegance.
Longines is proud to be the Title Partner and Official Timekeeper of the Longines Global Champions Tour and to lend its name to each stage’s highlight trial: the Longines Global Champions Grand Prix.
On this special occasion, the Official Watch of the event is a model from the Longines Mini DolceVita line. With its discreet profile, timeless style and aesthetic variations, this masterpiece expresses, in equal parts, the quiet luxury and contemporary elegance of Longines.
The Mini DolceVita line, launched last year, is being expanded in 2024 with new models including new double-loop straps.
These nappa leather straps, available in various sizes and colours, hug the wrist in total comfort and softness. The new collection makes a subtle reference to the equestrian world so dear to Longines, the strap holes are numbered from 1 to 6 with hot stamping in the manner of the straps connecting the saddle to the stirrup.
